On Thursday morning we gave each of the kids their own "Road Trip Bag", packed up the car and headed down to southern Utah for our favorite little weekend trip, Zion National Park! (The non-camping version because packing for a camping trip always leaves me too pooped to enjoy the actual camping trip.)
Cameron's parents happened to be down in St. George on a little business trip so they met us for lunch and then joined us on the Overlook Hike. (To get to the Overlook Hike you have to drive through a mile long tunnel that tunnels through the side of the mountain and it is Caleb's FAVORITE part.)
Perfect, overcast, cool hiking weather and the kids did great!
My amazing little hikers! |
Grandma Carol and Grandpa Richie - we loved spending the day with them! |
My fun, handsome, Benson boys - love this duo! |
I look like such a nerd in this photo, but really truly, how gorgeous is this little girl of mine? |
After the hike Cameron attempted riding his bike down the canyon and into St. George while I took the kids back to the hotel and attempted taking them to the pool. (Both were bad ideas - a giant wind storm kicked up and drove us all inside as fast as we could get there.)
We finished up the night with a very (Caleb about fell asleep over his plate) late dinner at the one of the most amazing restaurants I've ever been to. Seriously - if you're ever in St. George check this place out! (Carol and Rich thank you for the yummiest meal I've ever had!!!)
Of course the kiddos hit their second wind with the excitement of staying in a hotel, but after some good daddy snuggles they were ready for lights out (and so were we!!)

Looks like fun!! I feel almost the same way about camping. By the time I get everything ready, and then no one sleeps well, I come home a complete wreck! Zion looks just beautiful!
What a fun trip. And staying in a hotel is a great idea!
