Caleb's New Year's resolution is to give up his very favorite little sidekick, at least during waking hours. I made it for him when a few days ago I asked him for a kiss and he automatically made a grabbing motion across his mouth (like he was trying to remove the binky so that he could give the kiss - except he didn't happen to have a binky in his mouth.) Does he think it is a part of him? An extension to his mouth? Absolutely necessary to his happiness and self confidence?
Yes, yes and yes to all of the above.
For those of you who don't know (and how could you not when four out of five pictures on the blog feature the binky instead of his face?) my little son has an unnatural love for the binky.
Up until now I just haven't been able to say no to those sweet little cheeks, those pleading eyes, those darling dimples and the oh so convincing "puhleeeeeeeeese mommy???"
Wish me luck everyone - these next few days might be a little rough (probably just as much for me as for him.)
