PBS

We are definitely PBS people. The other day Livvy found the cartoons on Nickelodeon (as well as the million toy commercials...) and spent all day telling me that Santa could bring her the Disney Princess Castle for Christmas. (Anyone seen it? It's a huge castle with a carriage where all ten or so of the Disney princesses live. Of course it's super expensive and all comes separately.) Anyway - I tried all the usual tactics. "Santa might be done getting all of your Christmas presents." "All of those toys are sold by themselves to collect over a while - you don't get them all at once." "Santa doesn't give that many toys to one person, it wouldn't be fair to all of the other kids." etc etc etc. Even late that night after I thought she was asleep I heard her calling for me. I ran in thinking something was wrong. Oh no - she'd just been lying there in the dark thinking of ways to compromise with me. "Hey mom! I have a great idea! What if I just get TWO princesses? How about... Ariel and Sleeping Beauty! And then I could just get ONE castle!!" Oiiiii..... Hence my decision to avoid as much commercialism as possible this season and stick with PBS. (NOG is also a good commercial free kid's channel for anyone who's interested.)

Ain't that the truth! Luckily Beth hasn't totally caught on to the idea of commercials yet, but it makes me nervous with all those toy commercials...Especially since Santa IS done buying her presents this year :)

I discovered the best of both worlds by getting DVR... woohoo!! Now we can forward through commercials and Emma can still watch her favorite cable kids shows. However, PBS is still great... I love Sesame Street! :)

Cameron and Emily--I hope you don't mind that April gave me your blog site. It's been so fun to see what you've been up to. Olivia is adorable, and it's hard to believe how big she is. But then again, the last time we saw you was when she was blessed.--Our little Audrey is only about 5 days younger. Do you mind if I add your blog to my site? You can check out our adventures at www.pafam.blogspot.com I wish more of the family would blog--it's a great way to keep in touch!--Cameron--I can't believe you're a pharmacist! You'll always be little Cameron to me.
