The Caleb Man is officially FOUR!
We celebrated by inviting all of our little friends and cousins to take a flight on "Caleb Airlines flight 1120"
boarding pass invitations |
He worked all afternoon making the welcome sign and three weeks later it is still hanging up because he is so proud of it |
I tried to keep it simple (partly because of work/holiday craziness, but mostly because I've found that 2 - 4 year olds are pretty darn easy to please!)
We had Caleb's collection of dollar aisle airplanes set out on his traffic mat for the kids to play with as they arrived. From there we moved on to the craft (painting little wooden airplanes) and the games (I-Spy and landing paper airplanes on a runway target.)
They LOVED slopping that paint all over their airplanes (we spread our camping tarp underneath the table to keep the carpet safe) |
This game definitely ended up being the hit of the party! |
Cute little boys with their paper airplanes and aviator caps (1$ winter knit caps with felt sewn on for the goggles and ear flaps) |
After the games Olivia and her friend Beth (our official flight attendants for the afternoon) collected boarding passes from each boy, settled them into their seats, served airplane snacks (baby water bottles, pretzels and string cheese.) Then we watched an "in-flight movie" (Mighty Machines: How to Build a Jet)
Not a one of them had the attention span to make it through the 25 minute movie, so when the wiggles got the better of them we turned it off and ended our day with presents and cupcakes (yeah - we broke the tarp back out for this part too.)
Oh the chaos of 7 little boys, 2 "flight attendant" girls and an assortment of aunts, uncles and grandparents! But it was so worth it to see our little birthday boy having so much fun with his cousins and friends!
Love you buddy!

Low Key? Sheesh Em, that would have taken me forever to plan all that stuff. You are a party planner extraordinaire! If you ever decide to stop teaching, that should be your next job option. Porter had so much fun!
How very cute!
What a fun party--and so creative!!
